Drawing from improvisational traditions of many kinds, Nina Wise is just the person to cook up a compelling stage show out of what many people would call “nothing.” Using contact improv dance, comedy, spoken word, and on-the-spot dramatic storytelling (we’re thinking maybe jazz saxophone is next for her), Wise’s What Just Happened? is a one-woman retelling of yesterday. As in, if someone asked you, “What happened yesterday?” you might say, “Nothing.” But Wise brings her highly physical style and compassionate observations to “nothing,” and all of a sudden, What Just Happened? is something interesting.
