Despite projections of 5,000 skateboarders showing up at "Wild in the Streets" 2007 for a crazy 4th of July ride from Embarcadero to 3rd and Army, the crowd was enthusiastic but... thin. No more than 100 by the official start time.

As expected, people in patriotic brown blanketed Dolores Park yesterday in numbers we haven't seen since, well, last weekend. Although the photos hardly do it justice -- to do that, you need the smell of independence weed and someone asking if you're registered to vote in California every five minutes. For added fun, count the American flags. (Hint: There aren't any.)

Last night, dutifully ascending to the roof to see if our continually transforming downtown skyline would prevent us from getting a good look at either one of the dual firework shows over Pier 39 (it did), we were reminded once again, in the form of a beautiful exploding flower.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
