This year, the angle of the Pacific Orchid Exposition is that orchids, the flower of damp foreheads and silk sheets and chocolate cherries — fornication — actually clean the air, like little organic Hoovers. Sexy? Not so much. But very true! It appears that certain orchids remove particulate matter, volatile organic compounds, and chemical vapors from the air, due to science. Will these orchids be at the show? They better be — who knows what’s in the air at an orchid show. More than 150,000 flowers will be lined up, ready for you to gawk at and buy. On March 5, the Gala Preview Night "Green ... with Envy" also features “green” wines from 15 local wineries.
