Listen Up!

The Illogical Contraption podcast, starring your favorite black-metal-anarcho-horror-comedy-conspiracy-theory freaks, is appearing live this week with very special guests. It's the first time they've put on a live show, and they're bringing out the big guns (Not real guns! This isn't Texas, Alex Jones) with San Francisco's ever-present drag phenom Peaches Christ, comedian Kaseem Bentley, and longtime activist/spoken word celebrity/punk frontman Jello Biafra! These local personalities highlight the socially-conscious-but-also-weird personality that San Francisco used to embody. The Illogical Contraption folks continue to keep it weird, so if you want to channel that, seek out this show. This isn't your grandfather's podcast. And it's not Serial, either, or Marc Maron.

The Illogical Contraption podcast tapes at 8 p.m. at the Punch Line Comedy Club, 444 Battery St., S.F. $16.50; 415-397-7573 or facebook.com/illogicalcontraption.

  • clipping at Brava Theater Sept. 11
Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
