If you’ve been in San Francisco for a long time, you’ve probably heard the phrase, “No one is from San Francisco.” This isn’t technically true, but it feels true. Ask the person sitting next to you where they were born, and most likely the answer won’t be San Francisco. We come to this wonderful grey metropolis to escape our parents, to escape close-minded people, or just to chase our dreams. We find friends, we make art, and sometimes we even make our own holidays -- we have a lot to be thankful for here. But if there’s a downside to being in a city of immigrants, it’s that when the traditional holidays come, so many of our friends skip town to be with their “real” families. Downtown can feel like a ghost town on Thanksgiving, with just a few tourists waiting for the cable car, and a couple of stalwart restaurants like the Pinecrest Diner keeping its doors open. This year, however, we’re pleased to announce that the Union Square Holiday Ice Rink is open today. So before you pop the bird in the oven, or cram your tummy full of yams at the potluck, bring your skates to Union Square, and burn a few calories with some new friends. And while you're at it, don't forget to visit the adorable SPCA windows filled with puppies and kittens at Macy's. Happy Thanksgiving!

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
