Housepitality: Pride Party Preview

Weekday warriors know Housepitality very well by now — the long-running Wednesday-night weekly has a consistently crowded dancefloor (sometimes making Wednesday night look more action-packed than Friday night) and a diverse booking strategy. Pride Weekend means it's doing a one-off on Saturday night, featuring French DJ Chloé, who has a flair for shuffling, funky deep house with a disco edge. Joining her are the Housepitality cast and crew, led by Tyrel Williams, the Chicago-turned-San Francisco transplant whose knack for mixing vinyl must be seen to be believed; also on deck are fellow residents Sean Murray, Victor Vega, and Bai-ee providing the soundtrack to Monarch's rave cave, while Joel Conway and Mike Bee commandeer the groove lounge upstairs.

  • clipping at Brava Theater Sept. 11
Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
