Hebrew for "Happiness"

Kickin’ klezmer and Sephardic salsa? This isn’t your bubbe’s Jewish music festival. Simcha! The Jewish Music Festival’s 25th Anniversary Party keeps up with modern times with more than a dozen acts in a range of styles. Highlights include Marin’s Red Hot Chachkas and San Francisco’s Glenn Hartmann and the Klezmer Playboys, each constructed of whimsical, whirlwind combos of woodwinds and aerophones; think accordion/clarinet mashups squeezing out high notes of holy glory. For those who want to participate in the jamming, check out the workshops in the arts of klezmer and Middle East percussion or the Instrument Petting Zoo. Other Jewish Music Fest events include dance-theater with Dan Plonsey’s Bar Mitzvah (July 8 and 11) and music with Watcha Clan and Charming Hostess (July 18).

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
