Heavyweight Bass Rumble

Once upon a time, the concept of world music made people think of hippies and manic music nerds touting the latest in Tuvan throat singing. But the late '00s have seen DJs and producers propagating glitchy mixes of experimental dancehall, electro-cumbia, kuduro house, and hip-hop from Latin America, the Caribbean, and Africa. With the Heavyweight Bass Rumble night, local promoter the Slayers Club brings spinners from the East Coast, Pacific Northwest, and the East Bay, as Seattle DJ Crooked Clef joins DJ Taliesin from New York's Dutty Artz crew and Oakland's Chief Boima for a serious global throwdown.
