We are aware that the second we reference modern country, many of you recoil in horror. And we get it. Flag-waving, eagle-pettin', gun-slingin' heartland stuff doesn't make a lot of sense to us in San Francisco. So when we try to sell you Delta Rae by describing them as 1970s-era Fleetwood Mac, with Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton in the band, please don't be turned off. This Durham, North Carolina sextet combines traditional rock, new-country, blues, and all of the Americana-folk elements that make us love indie artists like Band of Horses so much. Yes, it's wholesome. Yes, it's the kind of thing people in the middle of the country listen to. But if there's a down home outfit that will ever cross over, it's these guys. Just try it — you might like it.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
