The food at Daniel Patterson's Jack London Square restaurant takes many of the characteristics of the New California Cuisine of Coi or Plum -- plates that look as if they've been gathered from the forest floor, flavor combinations designed to surprise rather than comfort, lots of playing around with texture — and super-sizes them. These are plates to share: giant lengths of bone marrow covered in radishes and Meyer lemon segments; great hunks of beef with roasted sunchokes and pickled artichokes; smoked pasta enveloped in onion sauce and flecks of cured pork. Chef Kim Alter's food is rich, bold, and, for all its grace notes and twists, approachable.

    Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
