Hard to be a God

Game of Thrones meets Salo in this mind-blowing total immersion into chaos and insanity. The final film by brilliant Russian auteur Aleksei German, this is a phantasmagoric adaptation of the revered sci-fi novel by the Strugatsky brothers (authors of the source novel for Tarkovsky's Stalker). A scientist from Earth travels to observe the planet Arkanar, which is in the midst of its own Middle Ages, and is swept into an epic descent into human hell.

The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage.
