Haçeteria

"You'll never see the hacienda. It doesn't exist. The hacienda must be built." This famous line from proto-Situationist Ivan Chtcheglov's surreal Formulary for a New Urbanism was one of the defining creeds behind the development of Factory Records' Haçienda nightclub in Manchester, England. Fast forward to early last year, and the quote's existence proved strangely foretelling, as New Order's Peter Hook served San Francisco tribute night Haçienda with a cease and desist order for using the now-defunct original club's name. Perhaps acting in the original intention of Chtcheglov, the S.F. provocateurs renamed their party Haçeteria and have been running ever since with a zany, art-damaged theme. This month the party returns to showcase local house producer Breath Control (of Wav Dwgs, Head Shop Boys, and Eats Tapes) for a live, all-hardware set of jackin' old-school Chicago house. DJ support comes from Nihar (The Elevator), Tristes Tropiques (The Godfather), Smac (The Innovator), and Jason P (The Educator).
