This week, they've done it again with their newest single, "Hole." It's an introspective, uplifting pop-punk anthem that's accessible to anyone who grew up listening to Blink-182. The song opens with one thick, meaty chord attacked by both guitar players, followed with Meat Market's signature guitar chug, harkening back to 2012's "Don't Surf."
Palm-muted power chords climb up the neck while they question how out of touch we are with ourselves, before plunging into the chorus, letting a chord ring while singing "into this hole I will go."
The second verse is typical pop-punk. The two guitars attack, alternating accents and power chords into another chorus. The song climaxes and closes with a feel-good guitar solo that's nothing too special technically, but you can't help but grin at it nonetheless.
The band has been active in the Bay Area for a the past four years. They've toured with togetherPANGEA and Fidlar, and guitarist and artist Jeffery Chung painted the mural above Brick & Mortar. This month, they're embarking for SXSW with Guantanamo Baywatch, The Memories, and Chastity Belt.
