Gotan Project: Show Preview

Wednesday, Sep 29 2010

Gotan Project lays down chill global grooves. A rare mix of cool electronic beats and sultry tango, its music humanizes the sometimes-artificial (and superficial) vibe of the dance floor with a digital-analog combo that speaks directly to the 21st-century clubber. With its French, Swiss, and Argentine influences, the band also delivers some cosmopolitan chic. Tunes like "Desilusión" and "Tu Misterio," from its latest album, Tango 3.0, lean less on electronics than past efforts, but without sacrificing the almighty groove. "Mil Millones," another standout, fuses throbbing dub bass with a warm, inviting bandoneon and Cristina Vilallonga's alluring vocals.
