Good Luck, Philippe!

Wednesday, Feb 13 2008
On Oscar night, the appearance of the Best Live Action Shorts category typically prompts a range of responses from viewers, from the simple "Huh" to "Who wants another beer?" It doesn't have to be that way, though. For the third year running, Magnolia Pictures and Shorts International have teamed up to give discerning viewers the chance to see the films in theaters before the awards are handed out. The collections The 2007 Academy Award Nominated Live Action Short Films and The 2007 Academy Award Nominated Animated Short Films feature the five nominees in each category, providing pretty much the only opportunity for you to say, "Oh, Philippe Pollet-Villard's work is simply stunning," and not be totally screwing with people.

Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
