Art class lacks something. Like sex! A while back, a frustrated art student named Molly Crabtree had a light bulb go off over her head, connecting the two places a modern young lady experiences public nudity these days: the burlesque show and the figure drawing class. She decided to combine the two into something called Dr. Sketchy’s Anti-Art School, and no surprise, people like it. At this month’s incarnation, Dr. Sketchy’s San Francisco presents Eva Von Slut, our local Mae West look-alike. The frontwoman of all-lady psychobilly band Thee Merry Widows is also a frequent fetish photography model, so in addition to plenty of curvature, Von Slut brings experience in not wiggling for moments at a time. “Bring extra colored pencils,” the organizers remind artists, and indeed, the lady is colorful, literally and figuratively.
