All too often, art made of glass is also made of cheese. Corny paperweight-inspired New Agey "sculpture" is common, we'll probably never know why. (Maybe because glass is about five hundred times more difficult to work with than almost anything else? And dangerous to boot?) Whatever the case, truly good glass sculpture is as rare as Latinas on the Supreme Court, so we're extra in love with Joshua Hershman's cameras at "In Camera." The chunky, sliced-off blocks of glass in his collection are in the guise of accordion-bodied Polaroids, prosaic Brownies, and other fabulous old picture-makers. And the metaphor works! You look through them! Clear on some sides, frosted on others, the little boxes force the viewer to walk around them, wondering what can be seen by mimicking the posture of taking a picture. It is OK, however, to just look at them.
