Brazilian superstar Gilberto Gil needs little introduction. The musician, credited as being an integral founder of the Tropicália movement, returns to San Francisco to play some of his most popular works (along with a few surprises). You need not be fluent in Brazilian Portuguese to enjoy his music and, more importantly, don’t need to own every one of his records to gain entry. It’s been a while since he released his first album in 1967, the fabulous Louvação, but that hasn’t stopped this 72-year-old performer from continuing to tour and release records. And while his latest album, Gilbertos Samba, was released in 2014, he doesn’t need a reason to tour. This is one South American soiree you don’t want to miss.

The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
