Getting to the Point

There comes a point in people’s lives when they have to ask themselves, “Where is the Ciroc Vodka–sponsored open bar?” And if they aren’t willing to ask themselves, well, they might have to ask the waitstaff at Dancing with the Drag Stars, where local tranny rug-cutters Suppositori Spelling, Virginia Suicide, Suzan Revah, HystErica, and Paju compete with five professional ballroom and Latin dancers for survival on the dancefloor. And because only a few people arrive at the point in their lives when they must literally dance to survive, everybody else must pay to see them judged, by blond bombshell and Hollywood comedy writer Bruce Vilanch, two-time Dancing with the Stars champion Cheryl Burke, and queen-about-town BeBe Sweetbriar. Of course, there also comes a point in every event’s life when it must be emceed by Donna Sachet, and when tickets to it include free admission to an afterparty called Wunderland. This is that point.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
