George Clinton: Show Preview

At 70 years old, George Clinton is one of the nimblest seniors on tour, a vibrant progenitor of funk even when he ditches his characteristic multicolored wig for a low-key bald head. He's currently embroiled in legal battles for the rights to many of his legendary songs, a fight for which his fans have raised over $20,000 via online crowd-sourcing efforts. Clinton's Parliament-Funkadelic band may be smaller than it was in its hit-pumping '70s heyday, but its sound is still huge.

    Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'.
