Abstract Art, Tangible Alcohol
Pair free admission to a great art museum with a few cocktails, and you've pretty much attained the pinnacle of the high-culture experience. That's what's so enticing about
Friday Nights at the de Young: The event includes access to the entire museum (except the special exhibits), lectures and demonstrations for adults and children. Plus, local artists drop-in to hold workshops and engage their fellow patrons in conversations about their work. Rounding out the bring-on-the-weekend vibe are usually live music, dance, and theater performances. (The museum also doesn't shy away from wowing attendees; previous Friday night events have included aerial, acrobatic, and costume-heavy performances.)
