"The Man with the Flower in His Mouth," a one-act play by Luigi Pirandello, explores the relationship to death taken by two characters who happen to meet in a bar late at night. One character reflects Everyman caught up in life's merry denials and predictable values. The other character, with reason, takes a different perspective.
Written in 1922, Pirandello’s drama was chosen by the British Broadcasting Corporation in 1930 to serve as a test demonstration of the new, experimental medium of television. Saturday’s performance, by actors John Baron and Joe Paulino, will recreate aspects of the play’s original production.
