From the nexus of Los Angeles' simmering experimental hip-hop scene soars Flying Lotus, who shaves sheets of static over neck-snapping beats. Lotus plugs and plays as gleefully as any of his Warp Records labelmates, and his upcoming "space opera," Cosmogramma, is sure to leave you with a twisted ankle and a worn-out pair of waffle stompers. Lotus has been amassing a network of like-minded producers, and will be joined at the Mezzanine by Scottish dub-stepper Kode9.

    Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage.
