Flowers & Sky: Two Talks is Part of Poet's Loveletter to SF

When: Sun., Oct. 22, 6-7:30 p.m. 2017
Price: Free
Poet Aaron Shurin will read from his new book Flowers & Sky: Two Talks which brings together two lectures and a suite of unpublished poems by one of our finest lyric poets. These intimate talks use Shurin’s own work to illustrate the power and practice of image-making at the deepest level. Shurin is author of twelve books of poetry and prose, most recently The Skin of Meaning: Collected Literary Essays and Talks by University of Michigan Press (2016) and Citizen by City Light Books (2012). Shurin's career could be considered a love letter to SF and it's gay community.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
