Sean Mullens and Deena Davenport-Conway’s documentary goes behind the scenes of the legendary drag nightclub Trannyshack. Birthed by infamous Icelandic queen Heklina in 1996, the club shocked and entertained thousands every Tuesday night for 12 years. Heklina recalls 1995 as the height of the deaths of her friends and “Trannyshack rose out of the ashes of all that grief.” The show pushed the boundaries of subversive drag and provided a platform for many performers to be as outrageous or as glamorous as they wanted. The stage at the Stud was graced by many soon to be stars like Lady Gaga, Ru Paul and Ana Matronic as well many soon to be local legends like Juanita More, The Steve Lady, Glamamore and Peaches Christ.
