Metallica guitarist Kirk Hammett brings the second edition of his horror-meets-metal celebration to the South Bay this weekend when Fear FestEvil 2015 takes over the RockBar Theater in San Jose. The festival kicks off with Hammett hosting a sold-out VIP Murder Mystery Dinner at the Winchester Mystery House on Friday night, but the real mayhem begins Saturday afternoon with the free outdoor Carnival of Chaos featuring an authentic freak show, games, and vendors. Inside the RockBar Theater, attendees can peruse Hammett’s world-class collection of movie memorabilia and meet the spawn of horror legends Boris Karloff, Bela Lugosi, and Lon Cheney. There will also be panel discussions with Hammett and his fellow rock star aficionados of the macabre including singer Corey Taylor (Slipknot, Stone Sour), the ubiquitous Slash, and guitarist John 5 (Marilyn Manson, Rob Zombie). The impressive music lineup offers Oakland’s metal juggernaut High On Fire, Sabbath-channeling retro rockers Orchid, and bloody theatrical thrashers Ghoul on Saturday, while Swedish experimentalists Meshuggah are joined by NYC hardcore pioneers Agnostic Front and local headbangers Asada Messiah on Sunday. Expect Hammett to strap his guitar on for a fiendish all-star finish both days.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
