Ghosts are usually benign, at least compared to vampires, zombies, aliens, and the other life forms that populate X-Files reruns and FOX News. Nonetheless, when you have the sneaking suspicion that you are not the only occupant of your home or office, who you gonna call? The San Francisco Ghost Society, whose time-tested philosophy of “flexible skepticism” combines Bay Area open-mindedness with careful scientific investigation and diligent historical research. The volunteer organization doesn’t charge for its services, but electromagnetic field meters and crank lights aren’t cheap, you know. Today’s adults-only benefit, Witch’s Brew 2, features burlesque by Marie La Faux, psychic readings, a raffle (prizes include a ghost hunt), and music by 5 Cent Coffee and the Slow Poisoner. Next-generation spookspotters will have several opportunities to get in on the fun in October, when the Ghost Society presents “Ghost Hunting for Teens” at libraries around town in the days leading up to Halloween.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
