For this year's annual Fall Arts issue we decided we'd celebrate the outsiders: the freaks, eccentrics, visionaries, mystics, fuck-ups, and misunderstoods that lurk on the outskirts of mainstream culture. This being San Francisco, we didn't have to look very far to find them. Whether we're talking exhibits on Warren Hellman or secret sex parties, comics about talking rabbits or improv plays based on Terminator 2, we've sought out the oddballs in theater, dance, visual art, film, books, comedy, comic books, and TV so you can wrap yourself in a warm blanket of weird all season long.
