Experiment in Terror

Wednesday, Dec 31 2008

Mike Patton's schizophonic rock quartet Fantômas remains one of the most experimental of his wide-ranging projects. Featuring Melvins riff guru Buzz Osborne on guitar, Mr. Bungle cohort Trevor Dunn on bass, and Slayer's ferocious drummer Dave Lombardo, Fantômas creates explosively dynamic soundscapes around Patton's shrieking vocals. Though the band hasn't released anything since its giddy 2005 effort, Suspended Animation, fans will be thrilled to hear Patton and company perform Fantômas' brilliant soundtrack tribute, The Director's Cut, in its entirety at this first local show in several years.
