Wig Out!!

Was it Morrissey or some much bigger queen who said, “If your hair is wrong, your entire life is wrong?” In any case, you should consider David Carver-Ford your new life coach. As founder of Diva Hair, he has been wig-stylist to the stars of San Francisco drag-dom — Peaches Christ and Heklina are among his clients. He has also been volunteering with Wigs for Kids since 2004, visiting hospitals to fit young patients in need for wigs of human hair, and putting on benefits like this one. Dreaming of a Wig X-Mas offers on-stage styling demonstrations, over-the-top mixology lessons, a Tonsorial Fashion Show — that is, “of or relating to the work of a barber” — some holiday hilarity by Mutha Chucka, and (last but not least) naughty mischief by the well-oiled Diva Hair Dudes. Mitch Hightower of kitchenqueers.com will emcee. We can’t guarantee he’ll be naked but, as documented in the pages of Bucknaked Downtown and other coffee-table books, Hightower is known for being one city’s more visible exhibitionists. Happy holidays!

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
