Double Feature: Wild at Heart and True Romance

Wild at Heart, David Lynch’s wicked, violent road movie/love story, stars Nicolas Cage and Laura Dern as a redneck couple fleeing multiple weirdos via a convertible. Packed with inspired performances, surreal moments, flashbacks, voodoo, gangsters, and lots of Elvis and Wizard of Oz references, the film won the Palme d’Or at Cannes. True Romance is Tony Scott’s ‘90s twist on the young-lovers-on-the-lam genre stars Christian Slater and Patricia Arquette as a pair of misfits who steal away from Detroit to Los Angeles to sell a stash of stolen drugs. Written by Quentin Tarantino, the film is the ultimate film/comic book nerd fantasy filled with memorable characters, surprising violence and some good laughs.

    Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
