Don't Be Shy

Wednesday, Feb 20 2013
Crack the lid of your inner geek and prepare to cringe-laugh with Mortified, the storytelling series that brings teen angst to light in the form of comic storytelling from journals, poems, notebooks, letters, lyrics, photos, home movies, schoolwork, and other pubescent arti-facts, performed by their original authors. The project began back in the late 1990s when Dave Nadelberg discovered a totally embar-rassing love letter and shared it with friends. Thousands have since joined in this quest for personal redemption through public humilia-tion with all their awkward youthful paraphernalia. Watch grown men and women display their past in front of total strangers with un-censored tales — from mall jobs to hand jobs, petty disputes, prom woes, and, of course, reasons they deserved to marry Bon Jovi. It’s gonna be da bomb, yo.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
