Vote, then usher in a new month of confusing local weather at Café du Nord on Tuesday, Nov. 2, with Melted Toys. 8:30 p.m., $10; www.cafedunord.com.
Now that fall has come in earnest to our fair city, it's only right to remember the joys of summer with a sweet pang of nostalgia. There's no better accompaniment for that sentiment than Dominant Legs, the burgeoning folk-pop project of sometime Girls guitarist Ryan Lynch and fellow Bay Area native Hannah Hunt: The duo's debut EP, Young at Love and Life (Lefse), sounds like a day at the beach alternately marred and sweetened by persistent cloud cover. Also playing is Holy Shit (not to be confused with Toronto post-rock outfit Holy Fuck), the Los Angeles–based duo of Matt Fishbeck and freak-folk journeyman Ariel Pink, whose nervous ditties sound like a day at the beach just before an oil tanker capsizes offshore.
