DJ Quik and Kurupt

Wednesday, Jun 10 2009

DJ Quik and Kurupt are longtime friends who first met during the recording of Dr. Dre's groundbreaking 1992 album, The Chronic. They've occasionally worked together over the years, but have only recently formed a solid musical partnership. Their first collaborative album, BlaQKout, was released June 9, and is a surprisingly upbeat fusion of Kurupt's tongue-twisting verbals and Quik's avant-garde beats, which sample Soul II Soul and a Moroccan episode of the Travel Channel's Bizarre Foods.
