For most of Del the Funky Homosapien's career, we've had to wait years for him to come down from the mountain with a stone disc etched in dizzying hieroglyphics. Now he's producing prolifically — since 2008, the Oakland rapper has released four LPs. And it was only a few weeks ago that Del, aka Sir Dzl, tweeted, "got the samples loaded to this new iPad, bout to master this thing on this trip." "This thing" is Golden Era, a new '90s-flavored album he is releasing as part of a three-pack (Golden Era plus 2009's Funk Man and Automatik Statik). To celebrate the upcoming release, he is playing two nights at Yoshi's, where L.A.'s organic hip-hoppers Simple Citizens will perform as his backing band.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
