Del and Devin

Wednesday, Nov 7 2007
Move over, Method Man and Redman: Hip-hop's newest answers to Cheech and Chong are ready to burn down the house. With their respective ribald tales of weed, women, and song, Del and Devin might well have been separated at birth. We're referring to rhymesayer Del Tha Funky Homosapien of Oakland's mighty Hieroglyphics crew (they of the brilliant blunted beats and three-eyed-man T-shirts) and Houston's Devin the Dude, the Dirty South's beloved rap comedian who has appeared on records by Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre and has his own group in the Coughee Brothaz. Both are big Bay Area favorites, attracting crowds that seem to know every word to every song despite the probability of compromised brain cells. Del and Devin helm quite a green party at the "11th Hour Tour." Bukue One and the Serendipity Project open.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
