SF Street Food Festival Doubles in Size

Like the universe itself, expansion is the most salient attribute of the San Francisco Street Food Festival(SFSFF). For the seventh go-round, the fest that outgrew its initial Mission location has moved to the considerably more spacious digs of Pier 70, where it's going to include everything from A to Z (or, at least, everything from Aedan to Yvonne's Southern Sweets). This has allowed the organizers to add still more stuff to a lineup that was pretty much unmatched to begin with.

While we're already pumped for Comstock, Namu, Hella Vegan Eats and all the rest, SFSFF will now also be a wonderland of beer and specialty cocktails, from Mission Bowling Club, Café Du Nord, Odd Job, Smokestack, Third Rail, Locanda, and Sweets Collection. (Tasters are a mere $8, with larger drinks going for $12.) The Whole Foods Market Hops & Crafts Beer Garden will serve brews from Magnolia, Goose Island, Anchor Steam, Cali Craft, 21st Amendment, Stone Brewery, and Fort Point, while other bars sprinkled around the venue will serve wine, well drinks, and non-Bay-Area-pantheon beer (that kind that still tastes good and gets you tipsy, but doesn't fill you with civic pride over living in such an excellent brewing metropolis).

In other good news, you can also move about freely, drink in hand. In festival management parlance, this is known as "promoting a more cohesive dining experience," but we all know it's about keeping people happy — and not having to continually empty a big giant garbage can where everyone's chugging wine and tossing the cups away before they enter.

Fasting for three days beforehand is beginning to look like a prudent planning strategy, and we haven't even got to the Saturday Night Spit Roast. While SFSFF is free to enter, it is a fundraiser for a very worthy nonprofit (La Cocina), so buying a festival passport is a very sensible idea. You'll never see this much delicious local food again.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
