Bohdan Slama's Czech-language feature is a beautiful, meditative look at the hicks in the sticks. Sort of. The Country Teacher hinges on the ignorance of a small town -- a new teacher arrives, and they do not know he's gay. But is it really their ignorance, or his decision not to tell them? He's no flamer. Throw in an alluring teenager, a jealous ex, and a really nice woman, and you wind up really wanting to see how it ends.
