Free Stuff Alert: Go Get Your Windham Flat/Cocktails Split at a Pair of Amoeba Shows

What's better than your favorite local bands putting on free in-store shows at Amoeba? Your favorite local bands giving away their new record — a 7-inch split from garage rockers Windham Flat and power-pop princes Cocktails, recorded in partnership with Converse Rubber Tracks, to be exact — for free while you're there.

Saturday, Jan. 17, and Saturday, Jan. 31, will see Windham Flat and Cocktails, respectively, performing at 2 p.m. at the Amoeba store on Haight. Cop the new 7-inch (again, for free) and if you're feeling generous, you can probably go ahead and give the bands real American dollars in exchange for their other records: Cocktails' Adult Life, remember, sailed easily onto our best-of-2014 list.

Below, Windham Flat's "The Cure" and Cocktails' "Tough Love."

  • clipping at Brava Theater Sept. 11
Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
