Female persons of all ages: Let's go to the After-School Program Showcase put on by the Bay Area Girls Rock Camp. Every single one of us could stand to see four bands made up of 20 girls between the ages of eight and 18. The lil' chicks onstage are making noise, trusting their rock instincts, thrashing around — doing all that crap girls are mysteriously, invisibly, and consistently encouraged not to do. It's kiiiinda hard to think of a more interesting, inspiring, hilarious, awesome way to spend your weekend afternoon. Plus, after the bands demolish the stage, everyone gets to watch Girls Rock! The Movie, probably sitting cross-legged on the floor. Boys can come but they better be ready to STFU.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
