Of the three things that children inherently love -- bubbles, balloons, and DJ Lance Rock of Nick Jr.’s Yo Gabba Gabba — bubbles are weirdly elusive. It’s not surprising to go months or years, even a decade for the nonobservant, without witnessing a decently sized iridescent soap bubble moving in a scattershot dance propelled by tiny air swirlies, captivating everyone sitting cross-legged on the grass in the sunshine. There’s a lot of science to be learned by bubbles: The soap stabilizes the orb via the Gibbs-Marangoni effect, which — zzzzzz. Bubble science is boring. We like bubble magic, which is the domain of Louis Pearl, the self-described, never-contested Amazing Bubble Man, who has figured out how to place children inside of bubbles. Spend five seconds with that: He puts children into bubbles. In The Greatest Bubble Show on Earth, Amazing Bubble Man blows all kinds of bubbles, including children-containing bubbles, universe bubbles, centipede bubbles, flying saucer bubbles, hat bubbles, fog bubbles, and bubbles we can’t yet wrap our heads around, while accompanied by Jetty Swart, a native of Holland, who plays the accordion in the proper old-style, French manner.
