Though she may be another diminutive white Brit with a soul-drenched, powerhouse voice and a penchant for moody blues, expect no trainwreck behavior or subpar performances from Alice Russell. She guest-starred on two albums by Quantic Soul Orchestra, and her own albums (2004's Under The Munka Moon and 2006's Under The Munka Moon Vol. 2) are rare imports. Last year's Live in Paris DVD is another coveted commodity, though snippets from that show, including her cover of White Stripes' "Seven Nation Army," are posted on YouTube.

    Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage.
