Does your sleeping life bore you? Are you less than satisfied with how weird your dreams are? You might get some much-needed inspiration if you attend the weekly NightLife event at the California Academy of Sciences. For this week's theme, "Reel to Real NightLife," the San Francisco Film Society and the Academy have put together a trippy-sounding film-plus-science show featuring a short cicada puppet film, a table reading of the play Beasts of the Southern Wild (along with a Q&A about the making of the film), a live cinematic program in a coral reef, a DJ set by Stones Throw Records founder Peanut Butter Wolf, love-testing devices, and some campy educational science films, along with cocktails and possibly captivating conversation.

    Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
