According to the produce wheel at Whole Foods, pumpkins are in season. Not many people know what to do with pumpkins. They’re big — some of them are giant, like Christy Harp's pumpkin, which weighs 1,725 pounds and is affixed with a world record ribbon — and they’re associated with some pretty damnable images: Pumpkinhead, for one. Once a year, people carve holes in them and light them on fire. We make them into heads. So it’s like we're eating heads, if we were to eat them. Some do. Some make them into incredible, low-cost meals. If you’re currently snapping up the season’s overstock and whipping up stuff like pumpkin polenta, pumpkin fritters, pumpkin bisque, and pumpkin cheesecake, then you could wind up on someone’s shoulders at the Pumpkin Cooking Contest. Just bring your best anything made with pumpkin — or the seeds — then put your fate in the pumpkin eaters.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
