Best Trip to the Retro-Future

The Interval at Long Now

The Long Now Foundation is a society of eccentrics dedicated to making sure homo sapiens sticks around for a good long while and that just so happens to be keen on boozing it up in a rarefied atmosphere. Having snagged a choice spot in the Fort Mason Center, it opened up the Interval, a bar and event space with an elaborate cocktail menu and lively discussions on cyborgs, modern blacksmithing, and clocks that run for 10 millennia without adjustment. This spiffed-up, 80-year-old building bursts with erudition scientific detail (there's even an orrery, or scale model of the solar system), meaning that even if you drink yourself into a stupor, you'll still walk out smarter.
