Although the chocolate factory founded by Italian immigrant Domingo Ghirardelli has long since moved across the bay to San Leandro, the flagship manufactory and soda fountain in the square that bears his name still churns out confectionary delights, none of which is more acclaimed than the traditional Ghirardelli sundae. Made with the company's proprietary hot fudge sauce and topped with chopped almonds and a maraschino cherry, it'll set you back $6.25, but, hey, in this case decadence is worth it. Open 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday through Thursday; till midnight Friday and Saturday.
