Best Happy-Hour Martini Bar

Olive

Located on the frayed fringes of the Tenderloin, Olive offers some of the biggest and best martinis in S.F. Enter through the thick wooden door, leave the savage workday behind, belly up to the unusual concrete bar, and order one of the sizable $5 happy-hour martinis. After a couple of sips, the copper-colored glow of a well-made martini will fill your psyche and have you declaring your sloppy love for just about everyone and everything in your vicinity. But, this bar is not just for lushes. It's a classy joint with art on the walls from local artists, wall-mounted concrete tables, olive-shaped bar stools, and a thick concrete bar on which to set your appetizers (spicy, baked tiger prawns; Tuscan-style chicken pâté with olive crostini and fig jam; fresh fish tacos). Olive also offers some of the best pizza in town (wild mushroom with truffle oil; pepperoni; cheese and tomato; barbecue chicken and cheese) for $7 during happy hour.
