Hakobo

Chances are, if there's a hot, happening, and future-thinking trend in clubland, Hakobo and his Fresco parties introduced it to Frisco. He is the man responsible for bringing venues like Pink, Mighty, and Mezzanine such infamous parties as "Disco Not Disco" (which offers free admission "for those rockin' roller skates"), "Wonder-Full" (an entire evening dedicated to the musical genius of Stevie Wonder), "Soul Slam" (featuring the music of Prince and Michael Jackson), and the Valentine's Day–themed "Nothing But Love." He has also presented tributes to deceased hip-hop beatsmith J-Dilla and brought electronic music stars Jazzanova, Bugz in the Attic, Kenny Dope, Osunlade, Tokyo Component, DJ Spinna, Mark de Clive-Lowe, Bobbito, King Britt, and Rich Medina to town. As a DJ, Hakobo (a member of the Culprits crew) spins various styles of house (deep, Afro, and Latin), broken beat, nu-jazz, soul, funk, and hip-hop — everything that's fresh.
