Please join us for an opening reception for the Berkeley Portrait Project, a pop-up exhibition of photographs by Orin Rutchick on view at the David Brower Center Saturday, April 6 through Sunday, May 5. From October 2017 through April 2018, Rutchick set up a small portable studio in Berkeley and shot portraits of local residents. For many, these photographs were the only formal portraits they had of themselves since their youth. The photographs became a source of pride and positive self-image for these residents. Rutchick will give an artist talk at 6:30 pm. Food and beverages will be served.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
