Giants fans remember this roly-poly, slow-on-the-basepaths catcher from his days behind the plate at AT&T Park — but Bengie's new memoir, Molina, is less about his career with the glove and more about the life and influence of his father, Benjamin Molina Santana, who saw Bengie and his brothers José and Yadier rise from poverty to become MLB All-Stars and World Series champions. Molina joins his co-writer, Joan Ryan, for two S.F. appearances on May 28: an afternoon book signing at Book Passage in the Ferry Building (3:30 p.m.) and an evening conversation with Roy Eisenhardt at the Commonwealth Club (6:30 p.m.).
